Another forthcoming documentary. The self explanatory documentary film I Am Martin Parr, directed by Lee Shulman, gets a full cinema release in the UK on February 21st. Judging from the official trailer, which can be watched at the link above, it looks extremely entertaining and I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Here's the blurb:

"One of the most controversial photographers of his time, Martin Parr’s images often have the power to both amuse and leave us ever so slightly uncomfortable, caught between laughter and the uneasy recognition of ourselves in his uncompromising portrait of consumer society.

Though he’s now celebrated, collected and exhibited worldwide, Parr’s early work did not find an easy public and was highly criticized for trivializing the working class. Yet, in retrospect, perhaps he was just observing what we often overlook - forcing it into the spotlight as an essential topic of discussion. I Am Martin Parr is the definitive portrait of an extraordinary photographer who revolutionized contemporary photography by inventing a political, humanist and accessible photographic language.

Lee Shulman is the founder and creative director of The Anonymous Project. He is a graduate of the University of Westminster with a BA (Hons) in film and photography. For the last two decades he has worked as an award-winning film maker both in the UK and France. He is also an avid art collector and very active in the international arts community."

Fundraising for L.A. photographers. In an effort to bring relief to Los Angeles based photographers who have lost everything in the wild fires, Photo LA @photolafair and Lenscratch @lenscratch have joined forces to create a fundraising campaign geared specifically to photographers. All funds will go directly to the photographers who have lost homes/studios. Go Fund Me link to that campaign here.
